Simply put, pediatric dentists are the pediatricians of dentistry. They receive an additional two to three years of advanced education and training relating specifically to children’s dental care, and, in addition to obtaining a certificate in pediatric dentistry, can be awarded a degree in pediatric dentistry, as in Dr. Baker’s case. Pediatric dentists are trained to treat infants to late adolescents, and provide comprehensive dental care that includes prevention, growth and development, restorative treatment, emergency dental care, oral pathology, radiology, and special needs.
